A brief look at the Koraji Caliphate

Official Name: The Caliphate of Koraj
Alternate names: The Koraji Caliphate, Koraj

Capital City: Dorai

System of government: Absolute Feudal Monarchy
The Caliphate as a whole is controlled by the Caliph, a hereditary title currently held by Salar I. The Caliphate is divided into vassal Sultanates, Malikates, Emirates and Sheikdoms, ruled by their respective nobles, who all answer to the Caliph. These vassals can also command vassals of their own, but only those considered of lesser nobility. The ranking of titles in descending order of power is: Caliph, Sultan, Malik, Emir, Sheikh.

Population size: 423,120,900 roughly, from last survey (Taken 2013)

General geographical description: Arid, but not unlivable, dotted with rivers and oasises. In the far south of the Caliphate is the beginning of the Baj Karab (Sand Sea), a massive desert comparable to the Sahara. It has always been the edge of Koraji expansion, as any attempts at settlement have ended in failure due to lack of any shade or water. The further north you go, the less arid the landscape. At the northernmost borders of the Caliphate, you can see patches of grass growing. There are numerous rivers coming through, going from lakes far to the west, into the eastern coastline of the Caliphate. The rivers have through the years split the Caliphate into two areas, north Koraj, a more densely populated, more industrialized and richer area, and south Koraj, hot, less populated, and with a hardy, traditional people.

Industrial strengths: The Caliphate's main industries are weapon manufacturing, resource refinement, and the largest, consumer goods such as childrens' toys, clothes and other cheap products. Farming is a big part of the life of people in the Caliphate, but it is not able to compete with foreign markets, and serves solely to feed people of the Caliphate. The industry of the Caliphate is very developed, however the Caliphate's basic resources such as coal and iron are poor, meaning that the refined goods economy is very strong, while the raw resource economy is weak. The IPU score (measurement system for industry in the UFASIM) is 110 out of 150.

Culture: Comparably similar to both Ancient Egypt and Arabia. The national languages are English and Koraji. The Koraji Culture is ancient and complex, but has also been shaped by outside forces in the past.

Religion: A sizable amount of people identify themselves as Atheist or Agnostic, but the most commonplace religion is Islam. Other religions such as Christianity, Buddhism and native religions have a fairly large following. Below is the religion results of the 2013 survey.
Atheist/Agnostic: 43%
Islamic: 23%
Christianity: 12%
A'kism: 9%
Buddhism: 7%
Other: 5%
Improperly filled out: 1%
